Sirenia is a gothic metal band from Stavanger, Norway. Sirenia combines strong melodic instrumentals, synthesizers, and metal guitars with light female vocals, male death vocals, clean male vocals, a choir, and violins.
Most songs are atmospheric yet intense, with melodic backgrounds and interludes. The lyrics are concerned with human existence, emotion, and mental states.
Many in the genre consider the first album, At Sixes and Sevens, a masterpiece, one that was not repeated with An Elixir for Existence. This album is also notable for concluding with a slow and melodic ballad "In Sumerian Haze", with Fabienne Gondamin's delicate voice set to the sound of emotional violin playing. Some critics believe that this album has an overuse of death vocals which tarnishes the highly regarded composition, while others disagree. (Sirenia - Wikipedia)
