Orphaned Land is a band from Israel who create a unique blend of metal and traditional Jewish music, thus creating a "new" metal sub-genre entitled Oriental metal.

Orphaned Land fuse doom/death metal as well as Jewish folk music and tradition. Although they have technical skill and determination, their music is not necessarily appealing to fans of the doom/death metal genre at large, as the eastern influence and pop notions largely outmode their doom metal "roots."
